A true blues artist, born and raised in the midwest, Gene Deer's style and music pulls on his old soul flavor of iconic blues artists from the Mississippi Delta, as well as classic rock legends. Gene's rock 'n roll spirit, and passion delivers high level energy from the stage in every performance.
Gene has opened for Marshall Tucker Band, .38 Special, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi, Emmy Lou Harris, Ray Charles, Three Dog Night, Eddie Shaw, Georgia Satellites, Foghat, John Kay & Steppenwolf, and Johnny Rivers to name a few.
For more than two decades Gene Deer has been injecting audiences with his blend of blues/roots/rock music nationally, and internationally. Performing more than 250 shows nationwide annually, this modern day blues man possesses vocals born to sing nothing but his style of blues. Gene's mojo infects audiences and leaves them feeling the rhythm of blues long after the music stops. His music persona is a blend of Robert Cray, Stevie Ray, Eric Clapton, and Muddy Waters; it isn't hard to testify while watching and hearing him perform. It’s difficult to identify where the separation is between man, and guitar.
Gene was hired by Indy car driver, and Indy 500 Champion, Kenny Brack as band leader and musical director for, Kenny Brack and the Subwoofers, sponsored by Pioneer. The Subwoofers toured with the IRL. Kenny Brack and the Subwoofers released a CD, “Live in Nashville” featuring Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar legend, Ed King.
Gene toured Johannesburg, South Africa in 2007.
